Nirveda Odisha and Kalinga Mitra Trust congratulate Ms. Saraswati Suna (Swati) for an offer letter from University of Sydney, Australia to do her Ph.D. We feel proud that she is one of the founder members of Kalinga Mitra Trust, Odisha and also an active member of Nirveda Odisha editorial staff.

We know her as a colleague while working with Nirveda Odisha and KMT, Odisha. She is an active young Ambedkarite lady from Odisha Bahujan movement and tirelessly works for the strong Ambedkarite movement in Odisha. We feel a strong and dedicated young Ambedkartie lady must go for her higher education abroad to bring more skills in our Odisha Ambedkarite movement with more zeal to run our movement further in Odisha. And for this, we strongly support her towards abroad education. She will be our Odisha Bahujan students great inspirer, who could see their aim through her. It seems that she is the first girl from India’s most backward regions of Odisha i.e. Kalahandi going abroad for Ph.D. Like her, there are many Bahujan girl students from these regions, who want to study but due to financial problem, they could not go ahead. Hence, her admission for Ph.D. abroad will give hope to those Bahujan girls from Odisha to come out from home and take education.

It is a sincere request to all Bahujan scholars and Ambedkarites all over the world to support her financially, which will help her to get admission into the University of Sydney, Australia. We are going to give a breakup of financial assistance and have attached her admission offer letter from the University.

Message from Ms. Saraswati Suna (Swati) :

Jai Bhim Dear, I am Saraswati Suna (Swati) from Kalahandi district of Odisha,  educationally most backward region in India. I am the first generation female learner of the family and from the community (Dalit) in my village. I have completed MA in Sociology (Gold Medalist) at Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. I have also completed MPhil at Centre for Women Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. My MPhil is on “Discrimination in Higher Education: A Study of Dalit Women at Sambalpur University in Odisha.” I have found that Dalit women face triple discrimination in a patriarchal society when they fight against caste, class, and gender, their voices are suppressed. 

Now, I have been selected for the National Overseas Scholarship of Government of India to continue Ph.D. The Department of Education at the University of Sydney, Australia has offered me an admission letter. The joining date for the Ph.D. program is in July 2019, the Government of India will release the fund only after joining of one month in the University. I need to manage the finance on my own, which is very difficult for me. Therefore, I need financial support for one month. I have no other earning source to manage my initial requirement. I need your generous support for my initial necessary things for going Abroad for Ph.D. 
The following is a breakdown of my financial situation for the starting one month:
                Accommodation/health insurance:  Rs 70,000  
                Food:  Rs 60,000
                Other Stationery:  Rs 20,000
                Visa fee:  Rs 30,000
                TOTAL NEEDED :                 Rs 1,80,000
