The founding father of the Nirveda philosophy is Bhima Bhoi in Odisha. But the philosophy of Nirveda is as old as the philosophy of Veda. The Nirveda is essentially anti-Vedic philosophy and ideology which is emerged to fight against the Vedic philosophy of inequality and exploitation. Nirveda as philosophy started from the time of Charvaka, Buddha, Kabir, Nanak, and continued throughout the Indian History. Nirveda believes that, in India, Veda is the source of all the enslavement, oppression, exploitation, tyranny, and violence.
The theory of slavery i.e. chaturvarna or caste has its roots in the Veda. Later on, all the Dharma Sastras borrowed the authority of Veda to perpetrate genocide, slavery, oppression, inequality, violence, and tyranny against the so-called Shudra, Atishudra, and women. Along with the Kalinga Mitra Trust who has been actively participating and organizing various programmes with the spirit of the annihilation of caste, activists and scholars have founded Nirveda as an offline magazine in 2016.
Nirveda has been publishing on various important topics related to the Sheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Minorities communities. Nirveda cover the issues of various kinds, i.e. gender, politics, reservation, atrocities, poetry, art, music, review, and critique of the policies of the government, education, story of Dalit Adivasi, Minorities and Women, and range of other issues related to Odisha and India. Nirveda believes that for a strong Dalit movement a literary movement is necessary and foremost importance. There is hardly any platform in Odisha to speak and write about the issues of SC, ST, OBC, and Minorities communities. The vision of the Nirveda is to create a platform for the community.
Nirveda Odisha follows the ideas of Buddha, Bhima Bhoi, Jyotirao Phule, Rendo Majhi, Birsa Munda, Savitribai Phule, Kanshiram, Dr. Ambedkar and other social reformers.
